Technology Driven Solution
The concept and benefits provided by the modelling and animation of hydraulic systems is easier to appreciate using a 'live' demonstration, than a narrative. However below is an outline of the methodology, an example of the outputs formats from the model and associated future potential benefits.
Methodolgy:
- Create an 'intelligent' schematic drawing using components from the software database,
- Assign variable, if required, to database schematic components i.e valve 'cracking pressures, pump pressures & displacements etc
- Run software simulation mode to carry out 'real-time' cause and effect scenarios to validate system behaviour
- Fine tune appropriate variable until desired system functionality and performance is achieved
Outputs Include:
- Technical Data for analysis or reports including graphs showing, flow, pressure etc experienced by each component throughout the cycle of operation
- Video Animation of the electro - hydraulic system in operation, displaying the actions taken and its 'real-time' effects

Benefits:
Besides having access to the information described above, the benefits and potential cost savings include:-
- Ability to perform Office - based 'what if' scenarios.
- Eliminating the need to use a 'try it and see' approach, where the software is used as a diagnostic tool
- For new designs it facilitates incorporating the system philosophy, operational specification, component selection, detail design and simulated functional testing of the system, in one assignment.
- Customer / End-User has full control over the complete design and component selection, minimising the OEMs input, thereby
- Reducing the OEM's costs / prices
- Increasing the customers options when selecting a suitable 'build only'. manufacturer for the system.
- Reduces OEM manufacturing lead time by allowing material procurement immediately after placement of customer purchase order
