3sun Group, a provider of specialist products and services to the energy industry, has scored an awards double hat-trick.
The Great Yarmouth-based Group has been shortlisted for two Offshore Achievement Awards, three Spirit of Enterprise awards and an Energy Innovation Award, recognising the firm’s achievements in terms of safety, innovation and employee success.
3sun Group’s managing director Graham Hacon said: “We are very pleased to be shortlisted for these awards and to have our efforts recognised in this way. Just being shortlisted for the six awards is a great achievement and is a huge boost to the team. As a company we have grown rapidly since 2008, we started with three employees in Great Yarmouth and now employ 175 people across our five European bases.
“Having our employees’ hard work and the company’s investment in our staff acknowledged is very rewarding. A key factor in our training is the transfer of skills and HSE standards from oil and gas to the renewables industry. We actively promote training and development to all our staff and have won contracts off the back of the quality of our employees’ skill-set and our technologies.
“I am delighted that our electronic 3D visually based inspection system has been shortlisted for three of these six awards. It manages legislative compliance and safety critical plant and equipment on wind turbines and is proving very successful for our clients. In addition to this we are currently planning to open two further bases and will continue to target expansion so we can provide local support to our clients around the globe.”
3sun Group is one of three finalists of the East of England Energy Board’s (EEEGR) Energy Innovation Awards, winners will be announced on the 29th of February in Norwich.
The Group is also a finalist in the Great New Innovative Product, Investing in Young People and Great Employer of the Year categories of the Spirit of Enterprise Awards. These awards are organised by enterpriseGY, which is supported by Great Yarmouth Borough Council to promote enterprise in the Borough and support business start-up and growth.
And finally, the Group has also been shortlisted for the Safety Innovation and Young Professional categories in the Offshore Achievement Awards (OAA), which recognise the top individuals and companies in the energy industry. The awards were re-launched in October by the Society of Petroleum Engineers with the support of main sponsor TAQA Bratani.
Entries were open to UK-registered companies in the oil and gas industry and for the first time renewables companies, a move demonstrating the increasing presence of companies in this sector operating in the North Sea. Winners will be announced at a black-tie awards ceremony on Thursday 15 March, 2012 at Ardoe House Hotel in Aberdeen.
